Ultimately what’s the purpose of life, if not to be happy? I certainly remember a time when I was much younger and very naïve when I thought happiness meant wealth. Perhaps you believe when you get that promotion or gain a pay raise or when your business flourishes beyond measure, you’ll be bestowed with happiness…

Experience has taught me that even the wealthiest of people can be broke; mentally, spiritually and emotionally. Imagine a wealthy man…he has all of the money to last him a lifetime and then some, fancy homes and automobiles and can easily be with almost any woman. But he lacks commitment to others and especially to self. He’s lives his life running after the green, though he lacks love for himself and what he lacks in himself, he can never give unto others.

He dies on June 15th, 2001 and is laid to rest in August 4th, 2015. It’s a sad recurring reality…

Many are starving for happiness, traversing the earth as though we’ve already passed. We want happiness, but are unsure of how to attain it.

You attain happiness by tapping into the pillars of happiness. This post isn’t about creating awareness alone, it’s about taking action!

Pillars of Happiness:


Great Relationships-we often hear people talk about the disingenuous relationships they condone and one wonders; if those folks are so volatile, why are you keeping them in your life? Genuine relationships that are based on mutual love and respect are essential to the well-being and longevity of your business, career and personal life.

Honor the folks who give you joy and have blessed you in the past and continue to do so. Understand that anything in life can crumble…though good relationships will be there, not only searching through the pile of rubble for you, but dusting you off and giving you hope.

Health-don’t wait until you’re forced to deal with the pain of regret and bad health choices. There will never be a perfect time to start, the right time is and will always be now! My acupuncturist said to me, “you have little issues right now, BUT these little issues WILL become big issues if you ignore them.”

For many of us, this is also the case. If you’re overweight, don’t focus on the time you don’t have to exercise or cook healthy meals. Focus on what you do have, perhaps you have ten minute every day at 5:30 pm. Guess what, that’s when you exercise, NO EXCUSES!! Many times, it usually boils down to poor time management and a lack of priorities.

Start telling yourself a new truth; “I matter and if it’s to be, then it’s up to me!!”

Your Calling- there’s something that you’re called to do and for some, it’s easily recognizable, for the rest of us, we need to go on a bit of a soul searching journey to find the work we’re called to do. I totally had to deep dig to find my calling and ultimately my calling boils down to servitude.

I’ve found the best ways in which to do so in spite of doubt and fear. Your car doesn’t start unless you put gas in it and press the ignition, right? Well, your fears and doubts only become real if you allow fear to be in the driver’s seat of your life. Realize that fear and doubt will always be there, but you can throw them in the back seat or better yet, put them in the trunk!

Spirituality- my life is lived knowing that nothing happens by myself…I’m not omnipotent, I serve the omnipotent! I may feel powerful at times and I do so always with the knowledge that I’m guided and that everything I have, that I possess is not only a blessing, but a direct result of the thoughts I think ( As a man thinketh…), the words I speak and the actions to follow. It’s the ultimate trident of life. It’s the trident that can be used to conquer any disharmony or affliction.

One is severely lacking if one is without the other.  You can’t speak good words, but self-deprecate in the mind. You can’t speak of what you will do, and then do nothing at all. Subconsciously you’re deceiving yourself.

Spirituality is found in the unseen. You don’t see spirituality, you feel it first within self and that’s when it can transfer to every facet of your life. For me personally, I found that it has led me to welcome calmness in my life and even when there’s a maze of noise, I can easily find my way back.

For me, it isn’t about perfection or religion or rituals; it’s about my journey to inner balance even when there’s a crazy mess happening around me.

I honestly hope this isn’t just a good read, I hope it’s a personal call to action. It would be silly to say anyone is made for sadness. The truth is we’re made to be happy, so go earn it, start TODAY!
